Course Description: Advanced Mathematics fully integrates topics from algebra, geometry, trigonometry, discrete mathematics, and mathematical analysis. Word problems are developed throughout the problem sets and become progressively more elaborate. With regular practice, high-school level students will be able to solve challenging problems such as rate problems and problems involving abstract quantities. Conceptually oriented problems help prepare students for college entrance exams such as the ACT and SAT.
Schedule: M-F, 5th hour
Textbook: Saxon Advanced Math: 2nd Edition (ISBN 978-1-565-77039-3)
Special Projects and Presentations: There may be special projects, presentations, and research papers assigned throughout the course. Topics, length, proper formatting, due dates, and other details will be addressed when these projects are assigned. There will be at least 1 special project due during the second semester.
