North Valley Baptist Schools Friday, January 13, 2012 Teacher-in-Service Day   Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, January 16 due to a scheduled Teacher-in-Service day. Schedule Changes   We will not be hosting the Christian Educators' Seminar that was scheduled for January 26-27, 2012. Therefore, we will have a regular day of school on Friday, May 18.     NVBS Spirit Days   The Student Council has arranged a series of fun-filled Spirit Days for the middle school and high school students on Thursday and Friday, January 19-20. Thursday will be "Crazy Day," and Friday will be "School Color Day." On Thursday, students may simply dress in a crazy fashion; and on Friday, they should dress in school colors. (Outfits must coincide with the dress standards laid out in the student handbook) Students may not wear pajamas and hair should not be colored or dyed. Each team member must dress out in that day's theme or points will be deducted. If you choose not to dress out, you must come to school in that day's uniform. The middle and high school students will be going to the De La Cruz gym on Friday afternoon from 12:45 – 2:15 for team competitions. This is for the 6th – 12th grade only. Elementary students should not dress out. Permission slips will be sent home on Wednesday.   The Senior Class will be selling Spirit Chains, which your child may purchase for twenty-five cents each. The class that purchases the most links will win a pizza party. North Valley Baptist Schools Friday, December 9, 2011 NVBS High School Choir Class   The NVBS High School Choir Class will be performing during the NVBC Christmas Cantata this Saturday and Sunday evening. The students need to be in their assigned seats on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 5:30 P.M. and on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 6:15 P.M. Young men should wear a dark suit, white collared shirt and a red tie. Young ladies should wear a knee length black skirt and a nice red blouse or a red suit or dress.   NVBC Elementary Children's Choir   If your child is involved in the Children's Choir that meets Sunday evenings and will be singing in the Christmas Cantata, they will need to be dropped off at the De La Cruz gym by 6:45 P.M. on Saturday, Dec. 10, and 6:15 P.M. on Sunday, Dec. 11.   Young men should wear a dark suit, white collared shirt, a red tie and dark socks and shoes. We would like to remind you that you are responsible for your child’s costume. The setting of the play takes place during Bible times and all costumes will need to be dated for that specific time period.   Narrators & Choir Members:  Young Ladies – Ankle length robe, a belt or tie around the waist, a shawl or head dress. Young Men – A robe or knee length tunic (pants can worn underneath if desired), a belt or tie around the waist, and a headdress (a head covering or turban). You will want to make sure the headdress is not too big as to block the face of another performer. Make the headdress easy to attach and secure by using hair pins and/or elastic.   Lead Roles: Students with lead roles should dress the same as the narrators and choir members unless their character is more distinctive and requires accessories to portray a specific look or age of character.    Animal Role: A hat and vest will be provided. They will simply need to produce the rest of the costume as they see fit.   Costumes can be homemade or store bought.   A costume check is scheduled for Thursday, December 15. Each child’s costume should be brought to school on a hanger and each piece of the costume must somehow be labeled with your child’s name on it. The costumes will be kept at school over night. On the day of the play, students can come to school dressed in school uniform.
