The Bulldogs showed up to the Saturday match-up against Sobrato ready to turn their season around after starting the season 0-3. North Valley was able to hold off Sobrato for most of the first period, but Sobrato got on the scoreboard at the end of the period and maintained control of the game, limiting North Valley to one shot in the opening period.
In the second, captain Caleb Harter (#91) was able to tie it up with an amazing unassisted goal by deftly deking around three of the opposing players and beating the Sobrato goalie top shelf. North Valley started to generate some offense, but by the end of the period, Sobrato was able to pull ahead to a 2-1 lead.
The beginning of the third period was just like the second, with Caleb Harter tying it up again with another amazing goal. But Sobrato wasn’t finished, and was able to score on an awkward-angle shot that deflected off of goaltender Eric Boruff (#20) and into the net.
North Valley just wouldn’t give up though and really began to put on the pressure. After several good opportunities, Joey De Leon (#32) was able to put one in the net on a rebound opportunity, tying the game yet again. But Sobrato was able to put the game away late in third scoring two goals on Eric Boruff’s glove side.
Forwards Kenneth Baltazar (#11) and Jordan Gilreath (#23) were out of the lineup for this game.
